How to Make Money Online?

How to Make Money Online

No matter what method you end up using to generate an income on the web, you need to adjust your mindset to help empower you rather than discourage you. The truth? Making money online can be fraught with avoidable pitfalls. There’s no shortage to the rah-rah cheers of internet marketers looking to find ways to ensure they part you from your hard-earned cash. The trick? Cancel the noise and get to the real meat and potatoes, so to speak.

To do that, you have to harbor a few fundamental guiding principles in your mind. Today, if you’re at all serious about generating a full-time income (and more) from your online activities, then you need to focus on passive income as opposed to active income. Sure, the active income will help you survive. That’s the scarcity mentality at play. But it’s the passive income ideas that will help you thrive.

Considering that you have a finite amount of time, passive income should make up a large part of your work. And if you’re serious about generating any semblance of income online, then passive income should be one of your sole goals and ambitions. Why? Simply this. Wouldn’t you prefer to do the work one time and get paid repeatedly as opposed to relying on your time to generate that income?

Since time is the most precious commodity on this earth, invest the time at the front-end so that you can reap the benefits on the back-end. This means putting in a bit of sweat equity and not getting paid today. Rather, you’ll get paid somewhere down the road. And you’ll continue getting paid whether you keep building that passive income stream or you stop. It’s obvious that this is the preferred route, but clearly the road less traveled.

Anyone interested in making money online should be pursuing passive income, while also working on active income. There are loads of ways to generate an income passively on the internet, many of which start at the foundation of having a blog, generating substantial traffic and building an audience and a list. Is it easy? Nope. Is it worth it? It sure is. But that doesn’t mean you need to start a blog to make money online today.

Online market trading

The historically hard-to-break world of investing in stock markets and currencies has been cracked wide open. Today there is no need to be a fat cat or fund the yachts of Wolf of Wall Street style stock brokers. You can do it all yourself with the help of online market trading platforms.

Having spent many hours researching this new opportunity, I’ve been experimenting with the two biggest platforms: Plus500 and eToro.com.

Both offer free practice accounts, and Plus500 also give you a £20 signup bonus (without depositing, terms apply) for their CFD service which is worth taking up. Overall I prefer eToro with over 4.5 million users worldwide. It was recently featured in the BBC 2 documentary “Traders: Millions by the Minute” and the Financial Times.

One of the best things on eToro is the Copy Trader feature. This lets you literally see, follow and copy the investments of other top performing traders.

Follow George’s complete guide to trading to learn more. I think that $200 is a good amount to get the most out of the learning curve by trying out a few different markets. If nothing else you’ll learn a great deal about various investments and industries.

Surveys

Are you looking for ways to earn extra income on the internet during your leisure time but have no clue on how to start? You may wonder whether it will require you to build your own website, write blog posts, or even sell a product online. Whatever it is, you may think some kind of advanced knowledge is required to do so. Of course, you can do all of those mentioned before, but only if you have some kind of specialty in one of those areas in order to do it well. For most people, this can be a little complicated, but please do not feel discouraged by this. There are actually different ways of making money online. In fact, it is a lot easier than you think.

Paid Surveys – the best and easiest way to make money online

Among all other methods to earn extra income, paid surveys is the best and easiest way to make money online. What could be easier than answering few questions and sharing your thoughts on a survey? It is as easy as drinking a glass of water, right? Plus, it only takes you around 15 minutes to complete a survey and you can earn an average of $5 per survey. It does not require any kind of special skills to complete a survey.

Companies are willing to pay for your opinion

There are many large companies out there who would love to hear your opinion about their services/products and in exchange reward you for this kind of useful information. Companies use this valuable information for their future developments – to design better products/services and to improve the quality of them. All feedback is welcomed whether positive or negative. You do not have to be afraid of “not getting paid” if your feedback is negative. In fact, companies are open to hearing negative feedback as well since it would help point out what needs to be worked on.

Paid Surveys – Risk free way to earn money

You may worry about the risks of earning money online because of all those stories you have heard where people are being scammed of money by fictitious companies. The truth is most of those “companies” are probably asking you to “invest” in order to increase your “return on investment”. However, a legit paid survey site will never require you to make any kind of investment. Legit sites will NEVER ask you for any credit card information and will NEVER ask you to pay for any fee to cash out your earnings. They are always free to join and do not require anything to redeem your earnings.

Pain Versus Pleasure

Before I talk about some of the methods for making money online, I wanted to address the role of pain versus pleasure. Every decision that we make in life is weighed on a pain-versus-pleasure scale. We will always do more to avoid pain than we will to gain pleasure, plain and simple. However, this is also what holds us back from succeeding in any endeavor.

Let me explain…

Now, making money online should seem like a pleasurable activity. Why wouldn’t we do just about anything to see things through, since it would be a major source of pleasure, right? Wrong. In the beginning, like anything else, we might get really excited about it. We might also set our hopes very high. But that all comes crashing down when we begin to fail.

The problem? In order to make serious amounts of money online, you need to the most amount of work for the least initial back, not the least amount of work for the greatest return. Translation — major amounts of pain. That’s also the problem with how affiliate marketers, network marketers, and IMs attempt to sell you the “dream,” so to speak.

When people buy into the hype, they set their expectations extremely high. All they need to do is send a few emails out, and voila, instant millions overnight. Well, clearly it doesn’t quite work like that. The issue at heart is that we will always do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure in the short term, not in the long term.

That’s why it’s so hard to quit bad habits or do anything else that requires any semblance of struggle. The human mind is hardwired to avoid pain in the short term, not in the long term. It’s part of our survival instinct.

Selling on Amazon, eBay and Etsy

One of the quickest ways to get started selling online is to leverage the power of “third party” sites. E-commerce giants like Amazon, eBay, and Etsy are powerful sales and marketing platforms with a built-in prospect base. Millions of people already visit these sites to shop. And they are ready to buy — that’s why they visited the site, after all.

On these sites, they make it easy to set up your own “shop” where customers can browse your products on offer — no need for you to set up your own website or anything. And you’ll find a built-in search feature so that interested prospects will find your particular online storefront.

Plus, you use their shopping cart. In short, you avoid much of the expense and hassle of setting up an “independent” e-commerce website.

And, with Amazon, you can even have them fulfil your orders. No fuss, no muss. Amazon says there are more than two million sellers on their site, representing 40 percent of all sales. So you’ll be in good company.

With eBay, the procedure is very similar. You simply first become an eBay seller. Stay in good standing and make sure you’re PayPal verified. Then you can sign up for your store. Again, here you take advantage of eBay’s reputation, reach, and sales and marketing infrastructure to sell your own products.

Etsy is focused on handcrafted and unique items. It has 1.5 million sellers around the world. Like Amazon and eBay you can set up your own online shop on the site.

All of these sites, as well as other third party sites out there, really are a very easy way to get started selling online, although you do have to pay fees to the provider.

A few pro tips: use clear, high-quality photos of your products; keep your product descriptions detailed and specific.

Sell Your Stuff

Ever since the idea of online auctions came into existence, the online selling market has been on the rise. Many are interested, but don’t know how to get started. There are still all kinds of ways to make money by selling online, whether you’re selling what you already have or buying and selling like a store. Before we get started, here are a few general tips when selling anything online:

    • Get a PayPal account. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you’ll want to get one if you’re doing business online. It’s the standard in online business for receiving payment and paying others.
    • Take good pictures. Some of the options below don’t require you to actually take the picture and sell the product, but for the ones that do, make sure you take a clear picture that makes your product stand out from the others.  If you’re going to be taking a lot of pictures, set up a small “studio-like” area in your home with a backdrop and proper lighting to really make your pictures come across as professional. And of course, you’ll want a good camera too.
  • Be honest.  If you’re selling used items, be honest about every dent, scratch etc.. This will reduce many issues you could run into and keep your reviews positive.
  • Do good business. Whether you’re selling on a small site or opening an online store, your customer service matters. You’ll want to get those positive reviews and make a good name for yourself. Respond to questions, concerns and complaints. Offer a guarantee if available.

Get Paid to Watch Videos

If you’ve ever fallen down a YouTube rabbit hole, this is a money-making activity for you.

Every time you watch a video in your Swagbucks account, you’ll earn cash.

Set it and forget it — let those videos play in another tab or on your second screen while you work! You’ll get a free $5 for signing up and watching your first one.
